Stage 6: Directions

  • The castle "Castello del Montgrí" is also an impressive photo motif on stage 6

From Toroella de Montgrí to Begur through the lovely hinterland

Today's stage is quite relaxed and takes us through the lovely hinterland. We leave Toroella de Montgrí and head south along dirt roads and small roads. It's worth looking back: The "Castello del Montgrí" castle, which was on yesterday's stage, is enthroned on the chain of hills and is also an impressive photo motif from afar.

Today we hike through an agricultural area, past orchards and fields - sometimes we have to avoid a tractor. There are a few small, very pretty villages along the way, such as the circular town of Palau-Sator.

The picturesque town of Pals is definitely worth a visit, as its hilltop medieval old town is a listed building. It is not without reason that the place is very popular with many tourists. From Pals we continue in an easterly direction and approach the coast again. Well laid out hiking trails lead slightly downhill and uphill again to Begur, the destination of today's stage. There are several accommodation options in Begur, some of which are very nice.

The historic center of Begur is located on a hill, on the top of which the ruins of a medieval castle can be seen from afar. If you are not too tired from the hike, you should definitely go up to the castle: the view from above over the hinterland and the coast is breathtaking!
