- Deposit extra luggage in Barcelona: If you arrive via Barcelona Airport, you will have to go to the city centre or the Plaza Catalunya on the way to the starting point of the hike in Portbou anyway (see also Arrival). - Pickpocketing: Barcelona is unfortunately considered a stronghold of pickpockets in Europe. Valuables should therefore be stored in the hotel locker as a precaution. Bags and backpacks should never be placed loosely next to a chair or table, but should at least be secured with a chair leg.
